Our History in Downtown Monroe
Make it stand out
Make it stand out
Downtown Monroe began with a rich history of commerce and cultural development. it has always held a special place in my heart. We have rich family ties to Downtown from its beginnings. With the first mayor of Monroe, Fred Endom and his brother, Robert Endom, was the first judge. It seemed nostalgic to want to invest in Downtown Monroe. They owned Endom Livery and Transfer Co. that once sat on DeSiard Street in the heartbeat of Downtown Monroe. They were responsible for the construction of what is now known as Endom Bridge. Over the years, I spent much time downtown. It was the mecca of shopping when I was little. Everyone got dressed up to go downtown. In the past few years, I have worked on restoring many buildings in the revival of Downtown Monroe.
It all began with an idea some 15 years ago in 2009 when it didn’t even seem possible. The building I wanted was occupied, I was not in a position or place in life to even make it a reality. Through the guidance of God, I held on to this vision with optimism. Some 10 years later in the winter of 2019, the plan to carry out this dream began, Reinvesting in Downtown Monroe and finding a location was the 1st priority. When the building i dream of opening in became available, I knew it was a sign from God. We then began that spring at 300 Walnut Street reviving this old gem.
After many months of improvements and updates the renovation of Revival was complete. We wanted to keep the nostalgia of this 1920’s building intact. We updated the dingy paint that was way past its due diligence. We added the iron and crystal chandeliers that would be appropriate for the time period and preserved the ornate tin ceiling. We found ceiling fans that resonated the same feel of the building. We restored the original time floor with a nice cleaning. We wanted history to still be reflected in modern times. As we grow we continue to make updates to preserve this historic property. We look forward to what the future holds.
This has been my field of dreams. Build it and they will come. We opened our door on November 1, 2019. Over the course of our opening, we have survived a pandemic, a tornado, and loss. We are thrilled to continue to grow with our Monroe location and our expansion into our mini location in St. Fracisville, LA at Birds of a Feather and Friends in 2024. Launching this website has been a blessing . God continues to guide us into the future. We have more plans for expansion as we Revive our souls and the treasures we find in our journeys. We look forward to you taking this exciting adventure with us.
Going through life, I was always anxious to explore a world outside of my hometown. Living, learning, and loving a time away in New York, New Orleans, and Dallas. Taught me so much about myself and my creative abilities. For so long I couldn’t sit comfortably and feel at home with myself or my creativity. I never gave myself enough credit that i could stand on my own. After many years of trials and tribulations, I began to see a metamorphosis in my life. It is from every loss that I gained so much. It is from every obstacle that i overcame a challenge. It is from every hardship that I learned a lesson to get me to this moment in life professionally and personally. It is just so nice to be able to find that perfect space in my life to sit and relish in the once impossible dreams be a reality.
